It's World Oral Health Day!

World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2023 is an annual event on March 20th, where the World Dental Foundation invites people around the globe to unite in reducing the burden of oral diseases.

Oral diseases are a significant health concern globally, affecting approximately 3.5 billion individuals and causing pain, discomfort, social isolation, loss of confidence, and other health issues. Fortunately, most oral health conditions are preventable and can be treated in their early stages.

WOHD aims to raise awareness and equip people with knowledge, tools, and confidence to secure good oral health, thus promoting happier and longer lives. The theme for the next three years is “Be proud of your mouth,” emphasizing the importance of valuing and taking care of one’s oral health.

To maintain excellent oral health, it’s essential to maintain a good oral hygiene routine, visit the dentist for check-ups and cleanings every six months, eat a balanced diet, avoid tobacco and limit alcohol consumption, and use protective equipment when playing sports or riding bicycles.

Oral health is crucial to overall health and well-being, and managing risk factors for oral diseases can help prevent other serious conditions. Join the global movement by being proud of your mouth this WOHD and taking actions to support your oral health and well-being. Visit https://www.worldoralhealthday.org/ for more information. The team at Harley Dental and Harley Day Surgery is proud to be part of this initiative.
