IV Sedation is suitable and safe for most people and is effective for any dental procedure you may undergo, placing you in a relaxed and sleep-like state whilst remaining conscious.
At Harley Day Surgery, IV Sedation is carried out with our highly skilled and compassionate team of clinical experts, nurses and anaesthetists. They work in a collaborative fashion to ensure you undergo care and support in a comfortable and pain-free environment.
Harley Day Surgery is a licensed Day Hospital, achieving National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) accreditation in November 2021 along with ISO 9001 Certification from one of Australia’s leading certification bodies, Global Mark. Harley Day Surgery is also a member of Day Hospitals Australia.
Accreditation is recognition Harley Day Surgery achieves a high level of safety and quality in the provision of care to its patients. Whilst NSQHS accreditation is a requirement to hold a licence to operate Harley Day Surgery, Harley Day Surgery underwent additional assessment for ISO 9001 certification. Your Day Surgery Admission
Harley Day Surgery has adopted a digital Pre-Admission system, which enables patients to complete their primary Pre-Admission paperwork online prior to arriving for your procedure. This ensures that on the day of your procedure that the majority of forms have been pre-completed, ensuring the admission process is as smooth as possible on your arrival to Harley Day Surgery.

What to Expect
Fasting
You must not eat or drink anything for 6 hours prior to your appointment, unless otherwise advised by your anaesthetist. This includes chewing gum, ice, water and sweets. If you do eat or drink within 6 hours prior to your appointment, your surgery will have to be rescheduled and you may be eligible to pay a cancellation fee.
Carer
For your safety, you must have a responsible adult accompany you home via private vehicle or taxi. Your carer must come in and collect you from Harley Day Surgery. If you do not have a designated carer, your surgery may need to be rescheduled. Please speak to us about any concerns you may have regarding organising a carer.
Recovery & Discharge
After your procedure, you will be moved to our best-practice Recovery Area where a registered nurse will monitor your recovery from the anaesthesia and offer you light refreshments. When you are ready, you will be given post-operative instructions and may then be taken home accompanied by a responsible adult. Your carer must come in and collect you from Harley Day Surgery.
